Adam's shearwater expedition
A different type of catch.  Click on any picture to see it in a larger format.

We do many things aboard the Erica Lee II - deep-sea fishing, tuna fishing, kids camp, etc.  We catch lots of stuff like haddock, cod, flounder, cusk, SHARKS, tuna, bass, bluefish and mackerel.  On Sept. 15th while out deep-sea fishing to help stock the freezer for the winter, I witnessed an unusual "catch of the day" by Adam our first mate.  We had small tuna busting all around the boat along with shearwaters (gull-like seabirds that scale above the waves on stiff wings that dive below the surface and eat fish, squid, crustaceans, ship refuse).  You can add fishing lures to the list as well.  While casting a lure for tuna, Adam captured and successfully released two shearwaters.  Note:  They appear larger when in one's lap.  The birds flew away and joined the rest of the flock.  Adam is proud to be able to add this skill to his resume.
